My love affair with travel didn’t start at a young age, I didn’t travel to far away places with my family, I didn’t grow up with yearly trips to Budapest and Venice. My love affair with travel started when I was 22. I went to Alaska and a light bulb went off. You may be rolling your eyes and asking yourself, “Alaska, what’s there besides snow and 24 hours of sunlight?” I am here to tell you everything is in Alaska. Nice people, good food and even better sites to see. But I’ll get to that later.
To see a place and to immerse yourself, to understand the lifestyle and culture; that’s travel. That’s adventure. For the first time I found myself. The long flights, layovers and lost luggage are worth every second of frustration because the moment you step off the plane to your newest destination all of that has been forgotten. Nothing is more satisfying than the excitement of going someplace new and seeing those once in a lifetime views. That is what I want for the rest of my life.
This world is far too small to stay put in one place for your whole life. I once read, “Traveling makes you humble. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” Since I read that my world has been turned upside down. I dream of the next time I can hop on a plane and travel off into the sunset to my next adventure. But until then I will dream and talk about my love affair with travel.
Welcome to my journey.
