A few weeks ago I went on my annual sister trip this time it was back to Mexico but a different part. If you read this blog post, you know last years was to Cabo with Cheap Caribbean. Well they hosted their annual contest, the Noble Beach Prize, where their top-rated resorts are put into categories and judges vote for their favorites based on photos, amenities and reviews. I was a judge again this year which is why I got to visit TRS Yucatan- voted Best Night Vibe. You can read more about the other winners and other properties available for booking on cheapcaribbean.com and on their blog. Without further adieu, lets get to TRS Yucatan Hotel in Playa del Carmen.
and on their blog. Without further adieu, lets get to TRS Yucatan Hotel in Playa del Carmen.
The TRS Yucatan Grounds
One word: expansive. In the compound, there are 4 hotels part of the Palladium Hotel Group. Each hotel is completely different from the next. Some are kid friendly, some have full on shopping malls, and some are set back in the jungle. Enter: TRS Yucatan. This hotel is the most remote and most idyllic in the compound. It is an adults only hotel and while there is no beach right in front of the property, there is an infinity pool and a fresh saltwater pool- fed by the ocean every single day. And not to mention the secluded hammock area and thatch roofed boardwalk that connects the villas to the main entrance of the hotel.
What’s great about there being three other hotels in the compound is that TRS guests have access to all of the amenities on the other properties so that’s all of the restaurants, facilities, and spas. For me, it was hard to want to leave the TRS grounds but we did venture out to see the private beach (exclusive to TRS guests but on the other side of the property) and for dinner one night.
My Favorite Restaurants
Capricho – breakfast
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and breakfast at Capricho did not disappoint. You’ll have the option of ordering from the menu, buffet or both. I loved the fresh fruit selection there was – I made my own little almond milk parfait with berries, nuts, dried apricots, and oats. Oh, and the fresh juice! Opt for carrot, pineapple ginger.
This is the perfect lunch spot as its right next to the infinity pool. Again, you have the option of ordering off the menu, going to the buffet or both. I’m usually hesitant when it comes to buffets however this one is a different story. I recommend ordering the tacos at the buffet- drool worthy. Don’t forget to top with some guac and pico! You can also have breakfast here but I preferred breakfast at Capricho because it there were less people.
El Gaucho – dinner
This spot is all about Argentinian cuisine. So think: lots of meat and bread. The outdoor seating is a must too as its set right on the jungle and the river that flows through the property.
I have to highlight, when I checked into TRS they provided me with cards that reflected my dietary restrictions. So anytime I would go to a restaurant I would provide these cards to the hostess and server and they would provide me with the necessary menus to ensure I wouldn’t have any issues upon ordering.
TRS Yucatan has 270 Junior Suites, 90 Junior Suites Private Pool, 45 Suites, 18 Suites Private Pool, 22 Romance Bungalows and 9 Ambassador Suites. Welcome to the royal junior suite at TRS Yucatan. I loved staying in this room for the simple fact that it was closest to the infinity pool which meant it was closest to the ocean. We also had our own private pool which was such a treat- it was a great spot to spend early mornings and early evenings.
I loved how the room was an open concept so upon entry you have the bathroom area continuing on to the bedroom and the living space. It made for a very bright and airy space.
The TRS Yucatan Experience
There is something to be said for the personalized attention the staff provide. Each guest is assigned a butler for the duration of the stay and they become your go to person for everything while on property. From scheduling meals, spa services or activities to sourcing anything you might need- like coconuts. Also, the entertainment here is unforgettable and it was just voted Cheap Caribbean’s Noble Beach Prize for Best Night Vibe! Chic Cabaret & Restaurant is a can’t miss when staying at TRS Yucatan. While it is an all-inclusive, it didn’t feel like an all-inclusive which I loved. It still felt small and intimate like any other hotel. What’s your take on all- inclusives? Would you give TRS Yucatan a shot?
