Fashion Trend: Denim on Denim

Planning your weekend activities? Here is the perfect outfit.

Denim on denim also known as jean on jean or the “joutfit” has made its comeback and I love it! I’m not talking about jean Bermuda shorts paired with a jean t-shirt- that’s the wrong way to joutfit, the dad way to joutfit. The right way you ask? Pair a light wash denim shirt with dark denim jeans, or vise versa. Make sure the contrast is just enough, there aren’t too many pockets, and the cut is flattering. Basically, don’t overdue it. Less is more.

To personalize your double denim look add some sort of pop. I love this quilted vest and my new Converse sneakers. Who am I kidding, these are not sneakers- they are wedges! And they are surprisingly comfortable. I don’t suggest walking long distances in them but they’re perfect for a day in the city. My Michael Kors crossbody is a necessity and works for every season.

Another trend I am loving: joggers! They are the perfect mix between boyfriend jeans and skinny jeans making them flattering for any shape. They are so versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on your plans. Dress them up with a blazer and stilettos or dress them down for your morning coffee run with a crewneck sweatshirt and sneakers.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again- I am all about functional fashion. What are your favorite functional pieces?
